Alter Trigger Company developed the phantometals, the key instrument to the phenomena and cultural movement of Phantom Lives. They supposedly disbanded after the side effects of phantometals were discovered, though they secretly continued research on the metals with funding from the government and private groups.[1]

Alter Trigger Company is mentioned throughout the voice dramas, and is shown to have connections to all of the groups invited to the original Paradox Live competition.

  • BAE is connected through Hajun's association with the Yeon conglomerate, one of the private groups funding Alter Trigger's underground research.[1]
  • The Cat's Whiskers is connected through Alter Trigger having threatened to buy the land where Bar 4/7 was. Naoakira was motivated to participate in the competition for the monetary prize which happened to be the amount of money they would need to out-buy the land.[2]
  • cozmez is connected through Nayuta having participated in Alter Trigger's testing for money, which lead to him developing metal erosion.[3][4]
  • Akanyatsura is connected as the Suiseki group is/was one of the private groups funding Alter Trigger's underground research.[1] Alter Trigger is also suspected to be behind an attack on the Suiseki group that 2 years before the story and resulted in the deaths of many members, including the Suiseki group's former leader.[5] Throughout the stage battles, Iori discusses his suspicions of the group being connected to the competition.[6][1]

In Voice Drama "LIVE", it is mentioned that Haruomi leaked information about Alter Trigger's headquarters, which seems to have led to the company being investigated and Nayuta, who had woken from his coma and been healed of his metal erosion, being released from the facility.[7] Additionally, it was revealed that a deceptive realtor TCW had dealt with was associated with Alter Trigger, though Naoakira still ended up being able to buy out the whole neighborhood at a cheaper price, saving the bar.[8]

In Voice Drama Part "Opening Show -Road to Legend-", it is revealed that the original Paradox Live competition was indeed a scheme by Alter Trigger "to check the affinity of hip hop and the phantometals."

In Voice Drama "SHOWDOWN" Part 1Nm8, at least one of the Alter Trigger facilities were confirmed to have a piano- as Rokuta mentions that he used to play a song on the piano in the facilities. Itsuki also mentioned that doctors have told him "experiments’ data were wiped out by Alter Trigger before the police came to investigate."

In Voice Drama "WILL", Hajun was able to access confidential information of a list of the facilities where AT conducted secret experiments. He stated the reason was that "Because my family provided financial support for AT from behind the scenes. Thanks to that, I was able to get my hands on some information from before." once again stating [1]. He apparently also was able to find a sort of archive/law evidence that contains more confidential information than those given in the earlier documents - showing how much information the Yeon Conglomerate has access to regarding the experiments, including coordinate data. As the satellite data suddenly errored in the area, Alter Trigger shows to be very secure about their locations, and didn't bother or have time to remove security in abandoned facilities of theirs. One of the Alter Trigger facilities is located deep inside a mountain, and surrounded by high walls. Though it is abandoned, all the machines and equipment were still there. Anne mentions the facility looks like a set of a Sci-fi movie.

Other Involvements[]

Alter Trigger Company is behind the phantometal testing Itsuki and Rokuta experienced (confirmed in the 1Nm8 drama tracks), as the Alter Trigger logo can be seen on a monitor in the background of the Team Week visual video for 1Nm8.[9] Ryu is also a former test subject, Itsuki and Rokuta recognizing him as someone called "Zero".[10]
